Britain in the World
Like all policy commissions, the Britain in the World Commission has agreed a work programme that sets out the key policy issues for consultation over the year ahead and identifies some of the topical issues and challenges facing the party in government. The programme was reviewed at the first meeting of the NPF in Nottingham in January, and the Commission will now start work on the programme.
Questions to be considered by the Commission:
How can Europe change to ensure security and prosperity for all within a framework of social justice?
How should Europe’s institutions be reformed to ensure more efficient and effective decision making?
How can we push for further progress on aid and debt relief for Africa?
How can we create new funding mechanisms that ensure developing countries have economies that achieve the growth essential for tackling poverty?
How can we build a strong EU framework for investigating and pursuing terrorists across borders?
How can we press the UN to become more effective in tackling terrorism and weapons of mass destruction?
What more can be done to build on the progress in UN reform to ensure that the UN effectively confronts the issues that the world faces today?
How can we encourage greater democracy and better standards of governance throughout the world?
